Welcome DC Walk 4 ReCovery’s 2023 Guests & Walk Participants!!! 

 

The DC Walk 4 ReCovery has been updated to a new site that is located across the street from our original site.  The DC Walk 4 ReCovery’s updated map will provide answers as we are moving forward to the Synchronicity of the Transformation of the caterpillar to the butterfly recovery event. 

 

Rain or shine, we are on for our Walk 4 ReCovery. Also, the latest report says scattered showers so that’s nothing for us hardy DC folk, right?  And, you and I know, DC weathercasters usually exaggerate the weather just like the do bad news.

So, please come and enjoy some good news of Synchronicity in Recovery, meet others on the same pathways, network (there will be a number of Recovery Coach, advocates, community leaders, behavioral health specialists, and many vendors with treatment information as well as lifesaving Narcan resources. We will also have  members of the faith community there.  If you wish to walk with us, please don’t worry about  any sort of RSVP, just come and bring friends interested in recovery.

THE WALK ROUTE

We will be walking from the African American Cultural Museum to the Washington Monument. The DC Walk 4 ReCovery Procession walk will start on the corner of  14th and Jefferson Dr. NW at 12 Noon.

PLEASE NOTE:

For those who wish not to walk in the procession walk, You are welcome to join us for our speakers session, Narcan presentation and other activities.

 

 

 

TRANSFORMATION “RECOVERY LAND” VENDOR FAIR

The DC Walk 4 ReCovery vendor fair is set to be nothing but amazing. The Transformation  RECOVERY LAND  Vendor Fair Begins at  2:00 pm. At the vendor fair you will be able to  gather information and resources from a host of DMV vendors who will share information regarding awareness, education, hope and solutions for treatment, resources, and information regarding the peer-to-peer movement. At the 2023 ‘RECOVERY LAND” vendor fair, you will have an opportunity to  hear from speakers within  the DMV area who will share hope as it relates to lived and professional experiences.

PRAYER & MEDIATION  RESTING STATION 

 

The DC Walk 4 ReCovery Prayer & Mediation Station is or anyone who would like  a quite moment to absorb the beautiful scenic site of the Washington National Mall. At this station if you should like for someone to prayer with you let us know. There will be a white tent for all those seeking prayer. ALL FAITH are welcome!

WATER / FIRST AID STATION

 

All DC Walk 4 ReCovery’s guests  will receive a VIP wristband at our Registration Station.  All registered VIP’s will have access to  light refreshments, water and other items  (while supplies last). 

 

REFLECTION  CLEAN TIME CLOCK

 

The DC Walk 4 ReCovery guests are welcome to write down  their clean time. At close to the end of the event we will tabulate all the time together and celebrate that recovery is possible. This celebrations will be on all DC Walk 4 ReCovery’s social media and website. 

 RELEASE IT, FORGIVE, HEAL & LET GO SPIN WHEELS OF CHANGE BOX

All DC Walk 4 ReCovery’s guests will have an opportunity to write a message to yourself and drop it in the Bob Marley’s spin wheels of change box.  This is a private and secure box that will be located in the White Prayer & Meditation Tent. The box will be surrounded  with an array of spin wheels for  anyone who wants to Let go and Let God have His way. 

 

OUR CHUCK BROWN NATIONAL LINE DANCE

Join us as we celebrate in solidarity our DC Walk 4 ReCovery’s National Line Dance to the Go-Go sounds of Mr Chuck Brown, the Godfather of Go-Go to the electric slide with his hit song…It Don’t mean a thing if you don’t got that go-go swing. 

 

TIC TAC TOE / CHESS/ CHECKERS/ CHALLENGE

PLEASE NOTE: 

As you are planning to attend this historic event be mindful of the National Park Service policies for the day. There are no phone charging stations,  so make sure your phones are fully charged. You may want to bring an extra battery pack to assure your mobile device stays charged for all the beautiful scenic pictures you will be taking.

TRANSPORTATION:

 For those who wish to drive their vehicle,  there is the Ronald Reagan International Building which has a parking garage. (please see attached map)  You are welcomed to  park all day for a flat rate of $17.00. At our new site the closet Metro station is the Smithsonian Subway Station (please see attached map) There is also a Red Circulator Bus that leaves from Union Station  that will drop you near the site. 

 

DRESS COMFORTABLE: 

You are welcome to bring your lawn chairs and or blankets. There will be a resting area and portable restrooms for you to utilize all day.  We ask you to think of this historic day as if you and your family are planning to visit an amusement  park. Dress comfortably and wear your tennis shoe.
